Information Ministry, Azerbaijan News Agency ink MoU on news exchange

Muscat: Ministry of information, representing Oman News Agency (ONA), and Azertag, representing Azerbaijan State News Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding a cooperation in exchanging news and information on the sidelines of the Shusha Global Media Forum for information, hosted by Azerbaijan.

The memorandum was signed by Ibrahim bin Salim al Salmi, Director General and Editor-in-Chief of the ONA, and Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Azertag, aiming to boost media cooperation between the two agencies and develop a professional partnership in exchanging news to serve mutual interests and strengthen bilateral relations.

The memorandum encompasses news services, photos, videos and newsletters in English and Arabic. It also facilitates the exchange of technical information regarding transmission of news services, the mutual use of news content and provides required facilitations for the agencies’ reporters and representatives.

Additionally, it includes encouragement for joint training courses, expert visits and specialised research of mutual interest in the media sector to improve institutional cooperation between both agencies, contribute to the exchange of expertise, develop professional performance and keep pace with rapid changes in the media sector.

The memorandum comes as part of a mutual commitment to improve media relations between Sultanate of Oman and Azerbaijan Republic.
